Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor of Tsinghua University

 

Qiang Lu received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering from Tsinghua University in 1959 and 1964 respectively. He was a visiting professor in Colorado State University during 1985-1986, teaching graduate student and doing scientific research. He has been a full professor in Tsinghua University since January 1988. He was elected division committee member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1991(now renamed Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences). He was a visiting professor in Japan KIT during 1993-1995, teaching graduate student and doing scientific research. He was elected IEEE Fellow in 2003, foreign academician of Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences in 2006, and CSEE fellow in 2011. He was the pioneer and founder of power system linear optimal control of non-linear optimal control discipline system. He has published 5 monographs successively, thereinto Nonlinear Control Systems and Power System Dynamics was published and distributed by KLUWER Science publisher in USA. He was awarded First Prize of National Excellent Scientific and Technological Book, Second Prize of National Natural Science for Two Times, First Prize of Scientific and Technological Progress of Chinese People's Liberation Army, Outstanding Winner of National Teaching Achievement Award, and advanced individual of National Key Basic Research and Development Program of China (973 Program). He worked as the chief scientist of “Large Power System Catastrophe Prevention and Treatment ” of National Key Basic Research and Development Program of China, directed and completed over 10 major scientific projects. He established power system hybrid control theory, which has been applied in Northeastern China Interconnection System, Shanghai Power System and Shenzhen Power Grid Intelligent Dispatch Automation System. In addition, he put forward and organized the research and development of the First Power Generation System Without Supplementary Fired Compressed Air Energy Storage in the world.

 

Chairman:Shijie Cheng 

Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor of Huazhong University of Science and Technology

 

Shijie Cheng obtained his bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Xi’an Jiaotong University in 1967, master’s degree from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in 1981, and his PhD from The University of Calgary, Canada in 1986. The academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, professor at School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering in Huazhong University of Science and Technology. He is Fellow of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). He worked as postdoctoral researcher at The University of Calgary, Canada, during 1986-1988, visiting professor at Technical University of Munich, Germany during 1992-1993, Visiting Professor at Nanyang Technical University, Singapore, during 1995-1996 successively. He has been a full professor at Huazhong University of Science and Technology. His research interests include power system analysis and control, renewable energy, energy storage. He obtained two Second Prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award, Second Prize of National Teaching Achievement Award, First Prize of Provincial Natural Science Foundation, three First Prize and two Second Prize of Provincial Scientific and Technological Progress Award, Third Prize of Scientific and Technological Progress of State Education Commission. He has authored and co-authored more than 500 academic papers including 100 SCI-indexed journal papers. He has published 1 monographs and 1 translation of book and obtained 4 authorized invention patents. He initiated and practiced in the new direction of advanced electro-technical materials and elements.
